Paintings Sarah Farrell-Roberts
Sarah’s propensity to paint larger than average canvases is somewhat explained by the fact that she honed many of her skills while prop making and painting tennis court sized backdrops for pantomimes and some of London’s best loved 90s West End shows including Cocobana and Grease. Moving on from painting theatre scenes in draughty Soho warehouses and working all night arranging shop displays and setting up exhibitions Sarah stepped aside from the ‘glitter’ of the theatre and the ‘aromatic’ smell of size to the more physically comfortable marketing world of graphic design.
Sarah then enjoyed a period of arranging photo shoots, advertising campaigns and designing marketing materials for well two known High Street retail outlets before giving it all up in 2003 to start a family. However she could not ignore her craving for the desire to wear paint splattered clothes and the joy of loaded paint brush in her hand forever, so in 2010, two children later, having spent a short time designing and implementing an art therapy programme for an addictions charity in London, Sarah moved to Devon to concentrate on her own painting.
Sarah’s paintings have now been exhibited at the Broomhill Art Hotel and Sculpture Garden and sold through Saatchiart as far afield as Las Vegas and New Zealand.
Sarah manages Unit6 Studios in Barnstaple and also has her own website for Washhouse
